Drafting The Front Bodice Nº 6




Drafting a Front Bodice Sloper

Using the measurements taken from the dress form, the front bodice sloper is drawn according to the following diagram. The drawing to fit the BJD will be made, step-by-step. There are about 26 steps to drafting the front bodice sloper, in Modern Pattern Design by Harriet Pepin (1942).

23. Check lines F-G and F-H, making line F-H equal in length to F-G. Make correction as shown by dotted line in diagram. (This correction varies with various sizes.)






24. Use your curve as illustrated as an aid in shaping the armscye and neckline.

25. With your blue pencil, trace around your final draft as follows: B-A-7-6-C-10-9-H-F-G-B

Drafting is much easier when taken in small steps.
