Yoshida Style

In my search for information about joints, I've brushed off my copy of Yoshida Style Ball Jointed Doll Making Guide by Ryo Yoshida. It was originally published as a series of articles in HOBBY JAPAN magazine, starting in October 2004. The book puts all those articles together, with some added material to make it more clear for beginning doll makers. The first book was published in Japan in 2006. The pictures in the book are an excellent doll making tutorial all by themselves. However, with an English translation, this is one of the very best doll making books currently available. The book can be ordered directly from Japan, through various stores, as well as from Amazon.Com and even on Ebay. Depending on where you order it from, it will cost about $60 USD, more or less. It is well worth it!

An English translation of the book was done by some members at the Den of Angels forum. (You may need to be a registered member to access the DoA forum.) It is this English translation that makes the book such a valuable doll making resource.

Ryo Yoshida is affiliated with the PYGMALION DOLL SPACE, mentioned in this recent post.
