Dias De Los Muertos

Dias De Los Muertos.
November 1st and 2nd.
Wikipedia: Day of the Dead.

These are nichos, or shrines, featuring La Calavera Catrina (The Elegant Skull).

The nicho on the right was made from an old plywood coddle for a plaster mold. It is painted with acrylic paint in various colors. The skull and roses are made from Polymer Clay, baked at 275F for 1 hour and 30 minutes respectively.

The middle nicho was made from scrap boards and plywood. There is a piece of glass in it. It is painted with a base coat of Dark Green, with Sage Green stippled on top, followed by a stippled coat of Jade Green. La Catrina is a Fairy Doll from the Dollar Tree store. She has been painted with acrylic paint, and ink. Her dress and hat were made from the fabric of an old pair of panties with an elastic lace waistband. The roses are from A.C.Moore.

The nicho on the right is the plaster part of a doll mold that I made awhile ago. The skeletons are from the Dollar Tree. Their faces have been painted with acrylic paint, and they are glued into the nicho.
