08 Joint Design Nº 8

This is the head with the spare attached. Click on any image to enlarge it.

This is the head with the spare trimmed off.

The tray of carving wax trimmings is full.

I tried several different ways of removing spares from the carving wax doll parts. All in all, my paring knife, heated over an alcohol lamp, was the best, quickest, and most accurate. I was always striving to get to within 1/8 inch of the doll part when cutting off the spare. Among the different tools I tried were: a small saw, an X-Acto knife, and my new wax pen.
