09 Plaster Production Molds Nº 285

I used a couple of the coddle boards as spacers to roll out a slab of clay for the build-up. Click on the image to enlarge it.

Because this is a very simple mold, I am only giving one inch around the pattern, instead of the usual one and one-half inches. The skullcap is 0.75 inches tall. The build-up is 4.625 inches by 4.500 inches square.

Arithmetic:

# Mold Volume in Cubic Inches
4.625*4.5*1.75
36.42187 cubic inches

# Two-thirds volume is water
0.67*36.42187
24.40265 cubic inches

# Cups of water (14.44 cuin is one cup of water)
24.40265 / 14.44
1.68993

# Water weight
1.68993 * 8
13.51944 ounces

# One part by weight 13.51944 / 2
6.75972 ounces

# Three parts of plaster
6.75972 * 3
20.27916 ounces

I will need about 13.5 ounces of water and 20 ounces of plaster.
